WHO we are
The Academic’s Voice is founded and run by Marcus Bazley.
Marcus is a theatre director, voice coach and facilitator, with a decade of experience in performance, education and training.
He founded The Academic’s Voice after delivering 1-on-1 coaching and group workshops for academics as a freelancer since 2013.
Marcus still works as a freelance theatre director. This experience gives him a detailed understanding of how actors use their voice and their body to communicate with an audience. It also provides him with a practical knowledge of narrative structure and how to utilise it to communicate ideas. His theatre productions have been performed across the UK and in Europe.
He also regularly runs workshops with university students, in secondary and primary schools, and with adult groups. He has delivered academic study days for the Worker’s Educational Association and has worked as a cover teacher in schools. Marcus has a first-class degree in History from King’s College London. He, therefore, understands the pressures of teaching and working in the education sector.
Before working in theatre, Marcus trained as a sports coach. He played cricket to youth county level in England, receiving coaching from some of the country’s leading high performance coaches. This informs Marcus’ approach to coaching and mental techniques for performing under pressure.
Marcus brings all of these experiences and skills together with the aim of inspiring confidence and self-expression in others.
